JEFFERSON, Ga. — Two Pendergrass men have been charged with murder in connection with a shooting outside a Jefferson restaurant that left a 23-year-old man dead, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
21-year-old Terrance Singleton and 23-year-old Brian Taylor were arrested Sept. 23 in connection with the shooting death of Aaron Winston Johnson of Jefferson.
Jefferson police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at the Subway restaurant at 5210 U.S. Highway 129 around 3:16 p.m. Sept. 22. Officers found Johnson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Johnson was taken to a regional hospital, where he later died, officials said.
According to the GBI, investigators determined Singleton and Taylor had gone to a home in Commerce earlier that day to speak with Johnson, but Johnson did not come outside. Authorities have not released additional details about what led to the later shooting in Jefferson.
The Jefferson Police Department requested assistance from the GBI in investigating the case.
Law enforcement officers located Singleton and Taylor in DeKalb County on Sept. 23. Both were arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail on murder charges.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Pendergrass Police Department, Georgia State Patrol, Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office and DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
The GBI said the investigation remains active. Anyone with information is asked to contact the GBI’s Athens Regional Investigative Office at 706-552-2309.
