The Steak 48 restaurant chain hasn’t officially announced a new Dallas steakhouse, but a permit was filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on Tuesday for a full-service restaurant to be built at 4829 McKinney Ave. The estimated cost is $4,072,458.

According to the project page, the new restaurant is around 16,200 square feet. Construction is expected to start in January 2027 and finish in December. As always, don’t take December as an opening date or window.

Steak 48 is one of six restaurants under Prime Steak Concepts, an Arizona-based hospitality group. There are six steakhouse locations across the U.S. Once open, the new Dallas steakhouse will mark its second and largest in Texas.

The Houston location is in River Oaks at 4444 Westheimer Rd. The two-level, 13,700-square-foot space opened in June 2016, the Houston Chronicle reported. The ground floor holds “dining suites” that look directly into the kitchen. Reservation-only bar seats, dining rooms and a behind-the-scenes butchering station are on the second floor.Ā

Former Houston Chronicle restaurant critic Alison Cook famously gave the Houston Steak 48 a whopping zero stars in her 2016 review.

“I love no steak better than a rib-eye, but this one – a $54 investment – was a mess. I took most of it home, where it made my dogs happier than it had made me,” Cook wrote.
