Ranveer Brar Wants to Make Food Knowledge Fun With ‘Yess Chef’

MUMBAI-Celebrity chef and actor Ranveer Brar has shared the philosophy behind his new quiz-based streaming show ‘Yess Chef’, saying the aim is to make food knowledge as accessible and entertaining as knowledge of cricket and Bollywood.

The show features some of Brar’s close friends from the entertainment industry, including actor and comedian Zakir Khan, Zeeshan, and actors Angad Bedi and Aparshakti Khurana.

Brar said the show was created with friends who readily agreed to be part of the new concept.

“The show is made with friends. Friends were called and told that I want to do something new. I asked them, ‘Will you come?’, and no one refused; everyone came. Later, we named the show ‘Yess Chef’.”

Explaining the idea behind the show, Brar said food knowledge is often presented too seriously, unlike subjects such as cricket and Bollywood.

“We make the knowledge of Bollywood cool but we make the food knowledge serious. We need to make food knowledge cool. So, the purpose of ‘Yess Chef’ is to make food knowledge cool,” he said.

He drew a comparison with the way friends casually discuss cricket, saying, “For instance, we make the knowledge of cricket cool. Friends sit together and talk about cricket in college, and it sounds so cool.”

Brar said ‘Yess Chef’ is designed so viewers can also recreate the quiz format with their own friends.

“And you can play this food-related quiz in such a living room among four friends,” he said.

The show has also received a strong initial response, with Brar saying it was on course to touch a million views within nearly 24 hours.

“And the reception we have got so far, a million views will be touched in almost 24 hours. So, it is an outstanding reception. And if we are getting a million views in an hour’s episode, then we have got a lot of love,” he said.

‘Yess Chef’ is available to stream on Brar’s YouTube channel. (IANS)
