One Bryant Park is Opening in Midtown Manhattan

One Bryant Park is a new Japanese restaurant that is opening at 135 W. 42nd Street on October 15. The restaurant is located inside the Bank of America Tower near Bryant Park. Restaurateur KwangHo Lee developed the concept, which will be led by chef Tadaaki Ishizaki.

According to Crain’s New York Business, the restaurant will occupy a roughly 10,000-square-foot, two-level space that previously housed Charlie Palmer Steak.

The interior was designed by Osamu Tsuchiya, founder and CEO of STUDIO CANALL. His design approach combines his Japanese background with his experience working in New York.

Inside One Bryant Park

Japanese materials and design details are paired with Western architectural elements throughout the space.

The dining room uses light and shadow as part of its design. Light filters through the arched oak ceiling to highlight the textures of wood, plaster, and other materials. The design is called Komorebi, a Japanese term for sunlight filtering through trees.

A sculptural Bocci light fixture adds another natural element, with a design inspired by roots and branches. The bar combines Japanese craftsmanship with the look of a classic Western bar. It features Naguri-textured wood and details inspired by Japanese tea rooms alongside Western elements.

The menu will include an eight-course kaiseki experience inspired by Japan’s 72 microseasons, alongside Ć  la carte options. The menu will change with the seasons and will be based on subtle changes in nature, ingredients, and availability. The main dining room is expected to have about 60 seats, along with a bar.
