The European chain is expanding in NYC. Lidl started in Germany in the 1970s and has grown into a grocery chain with thousands of stores across Europe and the U.S. It has that simple, no-frills European feel, with good-quality products, affordable prices, and stores that are easy to navigate.
Unlike a lot of supermarkets, Lidl doesn’t bombard you with bright colors and endless signs, which can make you overstimulated at best and dizzy at worst. Its subtle decor and lighting help shopping feel calmer and more enjoyable.

What Families Can Find at the New Chelsea Lidl
The new Lidl will have plenty of everyday grocery staples, including fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, pantry basics, and international foods. There’s also an in-store bakery with fresh breads and pastries throughout the day.
One of Lidl’s popular bakery items is its butter croissant, which will be available for just 49 cents.
To celebrate the new Chelsea location, there will be special discounts on select fresh produce, bakery goods, and non-food items during the opening.
Lidl Non-Food Section
You may also want to take a look at Lidl’s rotating non-food section, which is convenient for grabbing things you always seem to need. The selection changes regularly and can include everything from kitchen gadgets and home goods to seasonal items and clothing, so there can be something different to discover from week to week.
Lidl’s Chelsea location is part of the company’s continued expansion across the New York City area. You may remember that earlier this year, Lidl opened a new location in Brooklyn. The chain already has several stores in Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs.
The new store is located near West 26th Street at 335 8th Avenue and will be open daily from 8 am to 9 pm.
