Fields’ cousin, Gabreill Fields-Love, remembers Corey as someone who was deeply caring and never gave up.

“For those he cared about he went out of his way to make sure you knew that he cared about you,” and “He had the ability to find humor in dark situations. Whatever life threw at him he had a great ability to persevere and not let it get him down,” Fields-Love said.

Fields-Love says their family is very close knit, and that this loss will leave a huge imprint on many lives. She said her late cousin,  “had a heart of gold, with a fighting spirit.”

Fields-Love says she believes the incident arose from an interpersonal conflict, though that is not confirmed as the investigation is in early stages.
