Every time you leave a review, OpenTable takes note.

Half a million diner review are published on the reservation platform each month. OpenTable takes this data and other points to create a list highlighting the most booked restaurants from the previous month.

Their goal is to help diners discover new favorites, but if this list is anything like the most booked restaurants in Dallas, these lists often tell us which restaurants have Dallas’ dining scene in a chokehold with their booked out dining rooms.

These are the most-booked restaurants in the mid-cities between Dallas and Fort Worth. (OpenTable threw in three restaurants that are smack dab in the middle of Dallas proper, so we eighty-sixed those: The Henry and Yardbird Table and Bar). And also raise your hand if you already that Mansfield was a mid-city. Anyhoosie, it’s fun to see where people are going.

The Ranch at Los Colinas
857 W John Carpenter Freeway
The Ranch opened over a decade ago to offer genuine Texas hospitality and fare to the Mid-Cities. The kitchen partners with local producers and ranchers for a farm-to-table experience. If it’s able to be sourced locally, or from around Texas, they aim to use it in their kitchens. From the sodas from Lady Bird Soda Co. in Austin, all the way down to the micro greens from My Epicurean Farms in Slidell, TX, this place definitely has the Texas charm. They do daily plate deals worth stopping in for, like the wagyu pastrami deal on Mondays where you get the sandwich, tallow fried or salad for $17.95 before tax and tip, but their Texas-inspired American cuisine is reason enough to stop in.

Hudson House
5904 N MacArthur Blvd., Irving
There are plenty of great burgers in Dallas you don’t need a reservation for, but something about the cheeseburger and cold martini combo at Hudson House keeps diners coming back again and again. Every time this list of most booked restaurants is published, Hudson House is always on it. They famously (to them) serve the world’s coldest martinis alongside a menu inspired by the East Coast. They also have a sprinkle of New American cuisine peppered throughout like a popcorn chicken appetizer, sushi and chicken parm. Although, everyone will tell you to try their cheeseburger first.

Mexican Sugar
3215 Regent Blvd., Las Colinas
Mexican Sugar serves the richness of Latin culture and cuisine inside, but more importantly, on their patio, which is one of our favorites in the city. The weather right now is primed for you to grab a spot outside, explore their library of agave spirits and dig into some queso blanco. During happy hour, Monday through Friday from 2 to 6 p.m., they serve $8 margaritas and give $2 off vino y sangrias, beers and all appetizers. That sets you up nicely, then try the bone-in pork & chop with eggs or the carne asada, two of the most popular items on the menu.

Whiskey Cake
3225 Regent Blvd., Las Colinas
Farm fresh and garden-to-glass is the ethos of Whisky Cake, an everyday tavern serving New American cuisine. Black Angus beef from 44 Farms is used for dishes like steak frites, prime rib and a French onion burger; Texas Olive Oil Ranch is used for the cooking and Lampman Pecans from De Leon, TX are 100% grown and made. It’s eponymous whiskey cake is the most popular dish, as is the bone-in pork chop and steak frites.

The Finch
2955 S State Highway 161, Grand Prairie
They call a flock of finches a “charm”, and this American Grill wants to do exactly that, both for big nights and small pleasures. The menu is elegant, yet approachable, with dishes like wagyu meatballs, white wine shrimp scampi and a short rib entree. They also serve brunch and lunch, during which they serve country biscuits and gravy, short rib hash, and most importantly, a French dip. Those stand out to us, but the most popular dishes are the blackened red fish tacos, filet mignon and the honey sriracha glazed salmon.

Meehan’s Chophouse
101 S Main St., Mansfield
Meehan’s Chophouse opened late 2022 to bring an elevated steakhouse experience to the area so diners wouldn’t have to drive to Dallas or Fort Worth. You can expect classic steakhouse fare we can find around the city like prime steak cuts, fresh seafood, and classic cocktails. Next door to it is Henry’s Cigar Lounge, where an idyllic nightcap is waiting; a combo you cannot find in Dallas or Fort Worth.

Benihana
5400 White Hall St., Irving
Benihana is a Japanese restaurant that performs the ancient art of teppanyaki, a cooking style that has been practiced for over 200 years. In laymen’s terms, it’s hibachi with the same flaming onion pyramid. Benihana offers almost ten different menus from dinner, lunch, power lunch, wagyu of the world, happy hour, lifestyle and a few others. We’d bet most of the reservations from their power lunch, where you will be served an entire hibachi meal in 45-minutes, or the meal is free. Your choice of chicken, shrimp or tofu is served with soup or salad, rice, vegetables and dipping sauces for $15.95 before tax and tip.

Fogo de Chao
3080 Ranch Trail, Irving
All day happy hour and unlimited meat is a sure way to beckon a flock of Texans into your restaurant. Fogo de Chao does both. Founded in Brazil in 1979, this Brazilian steakhouse eventually brought the centuries old art of Art of Churrasco to North America, and we’ve been hooked ever since. Right now, you can get the Best of Brazil special, a deal that includes a selection of fire-roasted cuts, the self-serve market table and feijoada bar with fruits and salads and sides for $49 before tax and tip. That’s a deal. No wonder they’re one of the most booked restaurants.
