All the rain we received a week ago caused a bit of chaos in Amarillo. We saw streets flooded, John Stiff Park underwater, and all the playa lakes in the area burgeoning.
Not complaining, because we desperately needed the rain after such a dry spring and summer. We were starting to see a lot of water restrictions pop up. However, it wasn’t just those things that flooded thanks to all the rain.
Hoffbrau Suddenly Closes Its Doors
I was randomly scrolling Facebook when I noticed something that blew my mind. Someone had asked the question, “Is the Hoffbrau still open, it looked closed down yesterday.” I thought to myself, no way that place closed. I see cars in the parking lot all the time.
Well, sure enough, people began confirming that they had indeed shut their doors…temporarily. Based on a comment I saw from someone who appeared to work there, all the rain caused some flooding issues that needed to be dealt with, so they had to shut it down for a few weeks. One person mentioned it would reopen in November.
Neighbor Takes Advantage
Well, we all know that when something like that happens, opportunity arises. That’s exactly what happened in this case. People headed over to Hoffbrau craving a steak, and luckily for them and another Amarillo business, there just happened to be a neighbor who could provide. Outback Steakhouse is right there next door, and they took advantage.
So many people took advantage of the fact that Outback was right there that they ran out of steaks entirely. I mean, think about how many steaks they probably have there on any given night. Then imagine running out of EVERY cut possible. That’s saying something. That post was dropped at 6:50 pm, still relatively early in the evening.
In the meantime, it appears Outback is fully stocked once again, and Hoffbrau will be reopening soon. Everything seems to be right in the world, and will be fully back to normal before we know it.
