In the past couple of years, San Antonio has seen a rise in Asian hot pot and all-you-can-eat barbecue restaurants, including JPOT, which opened at the Shops at Dove Creek in 2024. Unlike the more successful KPOT, JPOT did not stand the test of time, and its empty space is now being taken over by a local seafood favorite.
Mr. Crabby’s Cajun Seafood & Bar is the new tenant taking JPOT’s spot, less than a year after the Cajun concept opened its second San Antonio-area location. With the Dove Creek location on the way, the newest Mr. Crabby’s will mark the third location for the business. Regional manager Charise Gravelle told MySA that the incoming outpost will be unlike what the city has already seen.
“It is going to be unlike any other location, as we will have some new menu items, and it will have the feel of walking into a Caribbean oasis with a Cajun flair,” Gravelle said.
A temporary sign for the new Mr. Crabby’s has already been raised on the building, and the restaurant is taking shape on San Antonio’s Far Westside. Once open, it will be near other eateries, such as Trapper’s Sushi Co. and P. Terry’s Burger Stand, as well as large retail stores like PetSmart and Costco.
Mr. Crabby’s has two other locations, one in Live Oak and another that opened in early 2026 off North Loop 1604, in the former home of Tomatillos. Gravelle told MySA that the third location will open on January 1, 2027.
