If you’ve spent any time scrolling TikTok in Minnesota, there’s a good chance you’ve seen Tony Cu.
He’s the guy parked outside a restaurant, takeout container in hand, giving an honest review from behind the wheel of his car, sometimes with his dogs in the backseat hoping for a taste.
His formula is simple. Cu visits restaurants across the state, often based on recommendations from his fans, orders the most popular items on the menu, and tells you exactly what he thinks.
Along the way, he’s built a following of almost 750,000 people on TikTok, and he even went viral during the State Fair with his food reviews.
Those kinds of numbers matter. Food critics on social media have become some of the most trusted voices in the restaurant world, and a good review from a popular creator can send long lines of customers to a restaurant’s door.
However, Cu is about to experience the other side of that equation. After years of reviewing other people’s food, Minnesota’s front-seat food critic is opening a restaurant of his own, which means he’ll soon be the one getting reviewed.
Tony Cu’s Opens In Roseville This December
Cu recently announced he’ll rent the kitchen at B-Dale Club, located at 2100 Dale St. N. in Roseville, where he plans to open a restaurant appropriately named Tony Cu’s on December 1. It will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
The menu will lean on classic club fare, including burgers, wings, wraps, and salads. Specials could include meatloaf, pho, and egg rolls, a nod to the egg roll and fried rice recipes he’s shared with his followers online.
Cu admitted it’s going to be a lot of work, but said the next two months will be exciting, and he can’t wait to share the journey with his fans.
Turnabout Is Fair Play
Something tells me that once the doors open, plenty of his followers will be filming their own reviews from cars in the parking lot. Honestly, that might be the best compliment a food critic could ask for.

Cu built his following by spotlighting local restaurants and sending hungry Minnesotans their way. Now those same fans get the chance to return the favor. Just remember the golden rule of food reviews: be honest, but be kind.
