PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — A Providence pizza shop is set to reopen tomorrow after a stabbing happened inside the pizzeria over the weekend.
Vasilios Pizza was closed by the Board of Licenses after a violent incident early Saturday morning.
NBC 10’s Cate Hanewich reports on the closure and reopening of Vasilios Pizza following a violent incident over Halloween weekend inside the shop.
Around 3:30 a.m., officials said a group of people were seen inside the shop.
“There are people sitting at the table eating. A gentleman walks in. There is a fight that ensues,” an official said.
Police said a man was stabbed in the chest with a knife and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.
“Police then did find blood in the pizza place,” an official said.
The incident unfolded during a time when patrons are not allowed inside the restaurant.

“Couldn’t get them under control because it was a big group,” Kosseifi said. “It was a bad thing that happened, and it led, and that situation happened.”
At Tuesday’s hearing, Vasilios was ordered to complete the 72-hour closure, give up their liquor license, and pay a $1,000 fine.
The pizza shop is set to reopen Tuesday afternoon at 3:15 p.m.
Police said no arrests have been made at this time as officers continue to investigate what exactly happened.
