Repeat Domestic Violence Offender Arrested for Violating Probation

Wednesday morning, Mitchell Aaron Martineau, 43, was arrested for violating his probation in two cases stemming from domestic violence.

Martineau’s domestic violence convictions came after a domestic assault case that was dropped.

A probation officer reported that Martineau failed to pay court costs, failed to provide proof of completing mental health and substance abuse treatment, and failed to complete the required number of batterers intervention classes. The officer recommended that Martineau be sentenced to 270 days in jail.

After the probation violation warrant was issued, Martineau attempted to quash his warrant and get a notice to appear, but Judge Susan Miller-Jones denied the motion. Martineau is held in jail without bond.

Domestic Violence Case 1:

On April 17, 2025, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) deputies arrested Martineau on charges of simple assault (adult victim) and child abuse (17-year-old minor victim).

The adult victim said that Martineau was punching holes in the walls and breaking things throughout the residence. At one point, he reportedly got in her face and threatened to kill her. The adult victim told him to leave, and he did. She then locked the door.

Martineau remained on the porch and began banging on the front door. The minor victim went outside and told him to leave. Martineau reportedly attacked the minor victim and a struggle ensued. Martineau later boasted about throwing him around in texts to the adult victim.

The 17-year-old victim sustained minor scrapes to his neck, left leg and left foot.

When speaking with police, Martineau said the minor victim put hands on him first so he tossed him to the ground. Martineau then said he only “tripped” the victim so he could gain control and get him to calm down. Martineau said he was not under the influence at the time of the incident. When asked about the texts, Martineau said he sent them because he was angry.

Judge William Davis ordered Martineau to be released on recognizance under conditions to have no contact with the victims.

On June 23, 2025, authorities attempted to revoke Martineau’s pretrial release because he did not maintain contact with court services.

On June 26, 2025, prosecutors with the Eighth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office dropped the case.

Domestic Violence Case 2:

Following the prior incident, Martineau and the adult victim (hereinafter referred to as the victim) reportedly ended their relationship. In July, when her son was on vacation, she allowed Martineau to come to the residence to collect his belongings, the arrest report states.

The victim reported that she was on the couch talking to her brother on the phone while Martineau attempted to start a verbal argument. She and her brother tried to divert the conversation, but Martineau continued. Seemingly angry about the lack of response, Martineau grabbed the victim by her leg and arm before pulling her off the couch.

The victim added that Martineau poured a can of Coors Light on her and threw a pack of cigarettes at her.

Martineau reportedly told police that he grabbed the victim by the ankles.

Judge Gloria Walker ordered Martineau to be released on recognizance under conditions to have no contact with the victim and refrain from possessing alcohol, drugs, weapons and firearms.

Martineau later failed to appear in court, prompting Judge Susan Miller-Jones to issue a warrant for his arrest.

Domestic Violence Case 3:

On November 21, 2025, ACSO executed the warrant and additionally charged Martineau with property damage (criminal mischief) and violating pretrial release conditions.

At some point between the prior incident and November 2025, Martineau and the victim resumed their relationship despite the active no-contact order. The victim indicated that Martineau had been staying with her for the past month.

Deputy Jon Michael Huckstep made contact with Martineau and reported that he appeared to be intoxicated despite the order preventing him from consuming alcohol.

After he was arrested, Martineau damaged the door of the jail transport vehicle.

Plea Agreement:

On November 29, 2025, Martineau resolved his cases with plea deals resulting in a one-year probation sentence.
