Salsa

This is the salsa I make when all the food is ready and I realize there’s no salsa. It only takes 2 minutes to make because everything is raw.

    •5-7 serrano peppers
    •2 medium sized tomatillos
    •1 small piece of onion
    •2 garlic cloves
    •2-3 tablespoons of mayonnaise
    •1 tablespoon of water
    •Salt to taste

Blend everything on the lowest setting so the salsa remains chunky. Since everything is blended raw, I don’t recommend adding more garlic because the taste might be too strong. Sometimes I add a pinch of chicken bouillon but that’s optional. Also the water is an estimate. You can add a bit more if needed, but just be careful not to add too much or the salsa will be too runny.

Edit: Feel free to play around with the recipe a bit because it is a bit spicy.

Edit #2: For those who think this isn’t a real salsa because it has a mayo, well salsa just means sauce in Spanish and we have a huge variety of salsas in Mexico. There isn’t one specific type of salsa. It doesn’t have to look a certain way or have certain ingredients to be considered a salsa.

Wow crazy. Mayonnaise in salsa. It’s like a salsa aoli!

The pepper to tomatillo ratio makes me think it’s spicy unless you remove some seeds but maybe the mayo offsets it a bit. Never would have thought to add mayo. Maybe cream cheese.

It’s not salsa if you put mayo in it.

I made this while making my breakfast this morning, and it is absolutely fantastic. Super simple, tastes amazingly fresh, great flavor, great spice.
    OP- thanks for the recipe!
