Looks like it. I have that looks quite similar.

  2. Buy one from Williams Sonoma if you can. They’re legit. No way to know on Amazon.

There is no way to know if it’s not a fake one made from concrete/cement made to look like stone or not. You could rely on reviews. But better to find a trusted seller (or a Mexican/Latino market).

A small one is very annoying to make salsa in fyi. You need a biiig one

  5. That’s the exact same one I have but I bought mine in 2021. At least the one I received was a legitimate one but as others have said you’ll only find out once you receive the product.

Do you live near any flea markets? They usually sell actual molcajetes from Mexico.

You definitely live near a Mexican owned grocery, and they either carry molcajetes or can get one. I bought a 10″ molcajete from a local tienda for $30. I had to cure it with rice, but it’s perfect and I use it weekly. Skip Amazon (always). Good luck!

Generally volcanic rock molcajete are more rustic-shaped and won’t have uniform details; it’s a large rock the molcajetero shapes from a larger rock. You will be able to identify a concrete molcajete by the uniform feet, base, and tejolote. A volcanic rock molcajete may sit wobbly, or have asymmetrical features.

Almost everything on Amazon will be made from concrete molds. Easy way to tell is by the product image; if other sellers use the same image it means it’s factory made

Did my salsa post help push you towards getting one?! 🙂
