Maybe they used the quesadilla cutter on accident? Like if they had your burrito under or near the blade and they overshot

That’s a pretty straight cut, makes me think someone used a box cutter to cut open the tortilla pack and caught the first one or two with the bag. They must’ve been mad about something if they cut it that much though đŸĨ´

It’s the first bite tradition. Goes back to the original days of Taco Bell and some places really like to hold onto that tradition for some reason.

Essentially, by cutting a small slit near the end it makes it easier to take the first bite. The theory is that this has a positively reinforcing effect by reducing the chewing ratio. This is compared to the thick compressed end of tortillas one normally has to fight through.

Source: I used to make things up. I’ve done so here as well. So I guess I still do.

The tortilla package may have been creased.

So they could breathe. What, do you want them to suffocate?

I believe the chance somebody fucked your burritos was greater than 0.

Are they 5 layer burrito? Might have made a small cut to see if it had the nacho cheese layer if they had multiple burritos and forgot what was what.

Ok so my explanation for this is that the tortilla packages can sometimes have long slits or creases from packaging that can cause that slit to be weaker and therefore break when put under stress such as when you fold the burrito. This, or that the steamer didn’t prep or care about how thw tortillas can stick together alot if they get transfered between extreme temperatures such as being above the steamer or to the side which can cause rips in the tortilla as you take out a tortilla to steam. Only way possible this can happen and assuming in a uniform way as whats you’re describing, it’ll most likely be the first case.
