Taco Bell has what McDonalds has – ubiquity and consistency. That’s it.
You pretty much know what you’re getting, and you can get it pretty much everywhere. It doesn’t have to be good, it doesn’t have to be cheap, it just has to be convenient calories that you can eat in the car.
As far as “king of all American foods”? Nah. That’s pizza, by a gigantically wide margin, it just isn’t car food… YET!
