Does anyone have a good restaurant style recipe of avocado style salsa ? I was at my favorite taco spot last night and they have this jalapeño avocado salsa they serve with their house made tortilla chips that is excellent. The server did say that it was avocado, jalapeños and cilantro in the salsa , and that the variety was the Hass , as I’m still trying to figure out if I have an avocado allergy or not (mixed experiences with the green stuff in the past ). I’ve tried avocado by itself as a side or soup topping and also as guacamole and have felt nauseous after , but the two times I’ve tried this salsa I’ve been completely fine.

So I don’t know if this would be worth exploring for you, but I have an allergies to raw nuts, raw bananas, and raw avocado, but none of these foods bother me when they’re cooked. Cooking an avocado doesn’t sound pleasant, so when it comes to avocado what I discovered through general culinary exploration is that acidic foods, such as lime “cooks” food.
Basically all foods have bacteria and there might be a bacteria that doesn’t mix well with you. Acids like citrus and vinegar can actually kill that bacteria, like cooking raw chicken with heat would kill salmonella. So by adding lime to guacamole or to avocado salsas “cooks” the avocado, in the sense that it kills the bacteria, making it safe for me to consume. I don’t have a specific recipe but maybe just start by mixing up an avocado, a squeeze of lime, and a little salt and seeing how you feel after that.
Also, just because I’m not a nutritionalist or allergy expert, perhaps if you’re going to try this, have a Benadryl on hand. I used to be able to gobble down raw bananas but my allergy got progressively worse and having an allergy pill on hand helped a lot on the day I decided no more raw bananas. A small allergy that leaves you nauseous can get worse without warning, so do be careful when consuming foods that might have adverse effects on you.
Four raw tomatillos, garlic clove, one Serrano, pinch cilantro, salt, water to texture/as needed. Blend. Add half an avacado blend
I make this one from time to time. Very little avocado in it if that’s a concern, or you can double the avocado. That’s how I like it.

I can’t search on mobile but I googled exactly this and there was a link to a salsa snobs post where the top comment was a bunch of recipes for this. I did one of the first two which was labeled as a restaurant dupe. Came out absolutely perfect, restaurant quality.
Yes! Zucchini salsa is a surprisingly great alternative! I haven’t tried this exact recipe yet but it looks good:

Roast onion, jalepeno ,salt and cilantro in a good amount of oil in a pan on high heat. Once it darkens a lil bit take it off the heat and add a drained can of tomatillos and blend together add salt to taste.
This is the avocado salsa my mexican coworkers use
I have an avocado allergy. It sucks because I love avocados! But avocado allergies (as well as bananas and latex) are a bit different than other food allergies. They don’t always trigger a reaction. Typically, the more you consume avocados the chances of you having a reaction increases. There are a few other factors that can also play into if you have a reaction or not.
I learned this the hard way. One time I ordered sushi with no avocado. It did come with avocado, which I discovered after eating it. I didn’t have a reaction. Thinking I didn’t have an allergy to avocados, the next day I indulged in some guacamole. I did have a reaction to it that time. It was bad. I had to use my epipen and go to the ER.
After that I went to my allergy doctor and she told me about the avocado/banana/latex allergy thing.
So be careful with avocados!
