Am I growing them right?

I am in Texas, I am leaving them in full sunlight, and I add the neem, copper, and sevin every 7 days (got a reminder set on my phone). I just started using the appf about every 7 days as well when I water them, and stick my finger about 2inch into the soil to see if they need watering. Their soil is half from my yard and half that bag. Just curious if they are growing well, and if there is anything more I could do to help them.

I am very new to growing plants so I am hoping I am doing this correct. If I remember right I believe they are in 1gal pots.
