This is the first salsa that I’ve ever made and it came out fantastic! I can’t wait try other recipes! I loosely followed this recipe https://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/tomatillo\_salsa\_verde/
Specifically I used:
18 tomatillos (1.6lb)
1 jalapeño
1 serrano
1/2 white onion (8oz)
1 heaping T minced garlic
1/4 bunch cilantro
1 lime (juice and zest)
1.5t salt
1.5t cumin
2T white distilled vinegar
This made about 40oz and the ingredients only cost around $4. That amount of refrigerated salsa at my grocery stores would cost 3-4x that and wouldn’t taste as fresh. I will be doubling the peppers next time for more heat, maybe even throw a habanero in. My favorite jarred salsa from the grocery store is Mrs. Renfros green jalapeño salsa. It has a very vinegar-forward tang to it that I enjoy, so I’ll probably add more vinegar next time.
I also made creamy jalapeño hot sauce this night that is also awesome (in 3rd pic). If anyone is interested here’s that recipe https://peppergeek.com/creamy-jalapeno-sauce/
I’m curious if you all have any secret ingredients that you add to your salsa verdes. Let me know in the comments.
