Violations and comments on food-safety inspections conducted last week by the Delaware County Health Department of establishments with liquor licenses, with violations found at seven of nine locations visited:
La Padella, 100 State Road, Media:
• Soil residue present on dish shelving
• Non-functional equipment (an under-counter refrigerator and one of the bar’s reach in coolers) found in the facility.
McSorleys Ale House, 2330 Haverford Road, Ardmore:
• Food is not marked with a use-by date.
• Food storage containers are not labeled.
Mix-N-Flow Sports Bar & Grill, 26 Garrett Road, Upper Darby:
• PIC did not demonstrate knowledge of licensing requirements.
• Sliced American cheese stored in the kitchen reach in refrigerator is spoiled.
• Raw ground beef stored below seafood.
• Test kits or other devices are not available to the employees to measure sanitizing solution concentration.
Newtown Suds, 3517 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square:
• A three-compartment sink is required when preparing food or drinks.
• The restroom does not have a tight-fitting and self-closing door.
Off The Rail, 109 W. State St., Media:
• Ice machine is not clean to sight and touch.
• Test kits or other devices are not available to the employees to measure sanitizing solution concentration- the test kit at the 3-compartment sink is expired.
333 Belrose Bar & Grill, 333 Belrose Lane, Wayne:
• A sign or poster that notifies food employees to wash their hands is not provided at all handwashing sinks used by food employees.
• Linens are in direct contact with food (lettuce, lobster, asparagus) in the bain-marie.
Pinocchio’s Pizza, 131 E. Baltimore Ave., Media:
• Bag-in-box fountain soda syrup liner observed stored in a container on the floor.
• Test kits are not available to measure chlorine sanitizing solution concentration.
Al a carte
Most of the violations are handled on the spot, usually by moving or discarding any food in question and cleaning what was found to be dirty, and a few require follow-up visits.
Delaware County presents the inspections with no further comment than above. The county also inspects many more facilities than restaurants with liquor licenses.
Of the total of nine inspections this week eight were routine and one was a follow-up.
Clean bills of health this week:
• Dan’s Corner Tavern, 700 E. Baltimore Ave., Lansdowne. Comment: DCHD License expires 9/30/26. EHS dropped off renewal application and invoice at time of inspection. Application, supporting documents and fees are due by 9/30/26.
• Wawa #8145, 5100 State Road, Drexel Hill.
The Daily Times corrects only grossly improper spelling, capitalization, abbreviation and punctuation from the reports.
Tinicum Township reports through the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture website. One inspection was listed for the week: America’s Pie Food Truck, 206 Powhattan Ave., which was listed as “incompliance.”
Tinicum is the only one of the seven Delaware County townships that doesn’t rely on the county health department for inspections that reports through the state.
Governmental entities are not obligated to report the results of food-safety inspections to the public.
