Next Inventory is gonna have someone asking “who sold just a shell?” Hopefully it’s a “try not to do that again” as opposed to some nastier response from management. Some bosses get riled up over any little discrepancy like this

Alright folks: here’s the story to explain why I bought an empty hard shell. It’s basically a follow up to something that happened to me a few weeks ago. Here’s the story:
An annoying order complication:
So I ordered a chalupa for myself on my way home and a potato soft taco for my daughter.
I used the mobile app to order so I would only have to let the speaker box know I have a mobile order when I arrived.
However my daughter wanted to sub the soft shell for a hard shell because she prefers hard shell.
There’s no way to do this on the app….
So when I get to the speaker box, this is how the whole ordeal goes….
Speaker box: welcome to taco bell, can I take your order.
Me: I have a mobile order, (I tell them the name)
Speaker box: i found it, is everything looking alright
On the screen?
Me: please change the shell on the potato taco from soft shell to hard shell please.
Speaker box: we can’t modify the orders you make on the app sir.
Me: yeah well I tried to do the change in the app but there’s no way to order it that way on the app, so I’m hoping y’all would do it for me just this once.
Speaker box: alright please pull up to the window
Employee: proceeds to give me the tacos.
Me: I notice the potato taco is not in a hard shell
Employee: like I said, we can’t modify mobile web orders.
Me: alright then, will you please just give me a hard shell and I’ll transfer the ingredients at home by myself
Employee: we can’t give away hard shells
Me: that’s alright, I’ll buy 1 empty hard shell please…
Employee: we don’t sell hard shells by themselves either… Sorry but I don’t make the rules…
Me: I want this on a hard shell, how can I make that happen?
Employee: you’re holding up the line, if you really want it, you could order the taco on a hard shell by driving up again and going through the drive through again to order it that way…
Me: I do exactly that… I drive around and go to the speaker box and when they greet me I say “hey, it’s me, the guy who just wants a hard shell”
Employee 2: (a different employee this time talks) hi sir, I heard you just wanted a hard shell? Is that all? Go ahead and pull up to the window please.
Me: thank you. I pull up and i see employee1 handing me a bag with 1 empty hard shell…
Me: the next time I order this on the app and want a hard shell but the app isn’t letting me make the change, is there any way I can avoid this ordeal?
Employee 1: if the app doesn’t let you swap soft shell for hard shell, then next time, just tell us at the speaker box that the app doesn’t let you change it and we’ll change it for you
Me: but that’s exactly what I did, and you still told me to drive around to the speaker box
Employee1: blinks 3 times while staring at me trying to comprehend what I said.
Then I realized I already have what I want and just said “its okay, I’ll try that next time, have a great day, bye”
What an unnecessary complication….

They didn’t sell you it before? Ive had people order just tortilla and just Doritos shells and we always do it cause it’s on the register.
