Postscript: The CGC is the single most overpriced item on the menu. It is DELICIOUS, but it is not worth even close to $5.29.
Even without the Taco Pass, I’ll be doing this hack in the future instead of getting a CGC.

I just got my own tortillas and cheese to try this, but the 10 pack I got were actually too small to nicely wrap around the Doritos shell. leave it to H-E-B to have such baby sized tortillas that really looked to be on par with a 6ā shell at Taco Bell. the main reason I wanted to do the home add-on method was to use a reaper or hatch pepper cheese instead of the three cheese blend.

I miss when they had the $1 mini quesadillas, those were PERFECT to wrap around a taco shell to create your own DIY double decker taco/CGC
My personal favorite combo was the $1 mini quesadilla wrapped around the $1 spicy tostada, $2 for a better & more filling item than just about anything else on the menu imo

Just tried this about 20 mins ago and it was pretty dang good. I donāt normally get the nacho cheese shells but with a tortilla around it itās better. 7/10 for me!

You don’t want to know how much they charge for a cheesy roll up at my locations š also for me the spicy ranch is what’s really appealing about the CGC. That’s my go to now for the free reward item.

I do this with the deluxe BYO cravings box all the time. Itās delicious and never had an issue fully unrolling the cheesy roll up to wrap around the DLT. I even put a packet or two of fire sauce on the unrolled cheesy roll up before wrapping it up. Highly recommend.
