Near the end of the growing season and these plants started off really well on my first attempt at growing from seed. The last month has seen them loose leaves, pale appearance, lacking new bushy leaves, no new growth on the stems and floweres now dropping off. They look anorexic.
I've fought off aphids with water spraying, fertilise with chilli focus weekly or fortnightly but i suspect my soli is boggy at the bottom and may be over watering. A pot can go unwatered for a week in warm conditions and still get a 95% moisture reading the deeper i put it.
Lessons learnt for next time is better soil combo that drains better ( can people give me their tried and true soil ratio) and I'm not topping or trimming any leaves off during the growth cycle.
Any feedback would be appreciated

Seems like a soil or drainage issue to me. You could pull one of the plants and take a look at the roots for signs of root rot. They might appear brown and wilty instead of white.
I would start over next time with a new type of soil. You could try growing in cloth bags too. I am a big fan of the 5 gallon cloth pots for my peppers.
The color on the leaves doesn’t look right. May be in part due to overwatering, but it also resembles a lack of nutrients, particularly nitrogen.
