hey guys, i’m a horticulturist and i currently work/volunteer at a local farm/greenhouse. because of issues with being able to pay me and because we have growing flexibility, my boss gave me free reign over two rows of the greenhouse
i’ve decided to plant and manually cross breed death spiral hot peppers and brad’s atomic grape cherry tomatoes (supplier is Baker Creek/Rare Seeds) as a sort of personal interest project. peppers and tomatoes, being in the same family (albeit, not the same genus), and having very similar reproductive structures/processes are indeed crossbreeding compatible, and i do have one account of someone in my area growing hot peppers and tomatoes close together outside and ending up with spicy tomatoes
the seeds arrived yesterday after i’d already left, i plan on seeding them this weekend. i thought that you all might be interested in this project, and if you are, i’ll post updates as it goes along

You will be the first person to report a hybrid between the genera. Or… you’ll learn through experience 😉
