Report: Savannah burglary suspect has lengthy criminal history
Arrest report details repeated burglary arrests for man charged in Savannah commercial burglaries

A Savannah man accused of breaking into a local business has a lengthy criminal history that includes multiple previous burglary arrests, probation and parole violations, and periods of incarceration, according to an arrest-history report.
Nathaniel Leonard Lewis Sr., 47, was arrested Saturday night after Savannah Police said officers caught him fleeing Junica Caribbean Market on East Victory Drive.
Officers responded to the business in the 1700 block of East Victory Drive around 9:12 p.m. for a burglary in progress. Police said Lewis was seen running from the back of the building and was arrested after a foot chase. Officers also recovered items reportedly stolen from the market.
Lewis faces three counts of burglary, along with obstruction and criminal damage to property. Investigators are also looking into whether he could be connected to other crimes.
Previous burglary arrests
The arrest-history report shows Lewis has been arrested on burglary-related charges multiple times.
In March 2021, he was arrested on two counts of second-degree burglary and a “smash and grab” burglary charge, along with a felony probation violation. He remained incarcerated until June 2022.
In September 2017, Lewis was arrested on a first-degree burglary felony charge and remained incarcerated until March 2019.
He was also arrested in September 2016 on a burglary charge, along with charges including possession of tools for the commission of a crime and criminal trespass.
Police said the investigation into the latest burglary remains ongoing.
