Donalds and Avila kick off Palm Beach County campaign at Boca Raton restaurant
BOCA RATON, Fla. —
Republican gubernatorial nominee Byron Donalds and lieutenant gubernatorial candidate Bryan Avila visited The Griddle restaurant in Boca Raton on Wednesday morning, marking their first official campaign stop in Palm Beach County since announcing their ticket.
Dozens of residents crowded into the restaurant, eager to enjoy breakfast and meet the candidates. Donalds and Avila mingled with attendees, speaking with them and taking photos.
Supporter Lydia Maldonado expressed her hopes for the campaign, saying, “For the next governor, I hope for a better economy, healthcare, insurance to come down for the seniors and the disabled. That’s the key: we need to help those who are in need. And I believe Byron has a great party, and I believe he will listen to the community.”
Donalds highlighted some of the campaign’s priorities, including affordability and price transparency.
“One, we want to reform permitting, go push down the cost of construction, so people can afford a home and build a dream for themselves,” Donalds said. “And if they’re not going to go to the universities, let’s make sure that they have internships and apprenticeship before they graduate high school so they can hit the ground running, get a high-paid job and begin to build a Florida dream for themselves.”
Avila also emphasized the importance of reducing financial burdens for Floridians.
“We’re going to look at everything and anything that we can do to alleviate the financial burden for our residents,” Avila said. “Certainly, within the last five years, the Florida Legislature has returned to taxpayers more than $5.5 billion.”
The Republican nominees plan to continue their campaign stops across the state.
