Tripadvisor’s top rated ‘cheap eat’ restaurants in Warrington

We have had a look at the top rated ‘cheap eats’ on Tripadvisor.

Here are the top five rated restaurants in the category:

Zalo’s Café

In first place is Zalo’s Café.

It has two branches – but the one in Stockton Heath is top of Tripadvisor’s list.

Zalo’s offers a variety of food and drink – including breakfast, coffee, cake, smoothies, salads, paninis, baguettes, hot meals, beer and wine.

It has more than 180 reviews and boasts a 4.6 rating.

Tripadvisor users say there is ‘no place like Zalo’s’, they ‘can’t fault it’, and that is good value for money.

One reviewer said: “Amazing every single time. The food and staff – no place like it.”

The Blue Bell

Second in the cheap eats category is The Blue Bell.

It is located on Horsemarket Street in the town centre.

At The Blue Bell, a wide range of traditional pub food is on offer, as well as real cake ales and full English breakfast.

It has more than 315 reviews and is rated 4.3 on Tripadvisor.

“Lovely atmosphere and great staff, they were very helpful and friendly. The food was amazing – by far the best roast I’ve had in a long time! Would highly recommend,” one reviewer said.

Another diner said the roast dinner at The Blue Bell is ‘fantastic value for money’.

 

 

Café OCHO

In at third, is Café Ocho which can be found in Woolston.

It has an impressive 4.8 rating on Tripadvisor, with 115 reviews.

Café OCHO offers a breakfast and lunch menu and it aims to provide ‘the very best sandwiches and coffee’ to its customers.

One review reads: “This is a cosy, comfortable and quirky little cafe. The service was very good, the staff were friendly, and the food was great. Really good, cooked breakfast with quality ingredients.”

Another diner said it is ‘great value for money’ at Café OCHO.

 The Maltings

The Maltings, which is based in Old Hall, is fourth on the list.

It is described as a local dog friendly pub that serves homemade good pub food in a quiet and friendly atmosphere.

As well as a breakfast menu, a Sunday menu, a main menu, and a kids menu – The Maltings also has a dogs menu.

It has 330 reviews on Tripavisor and again is ranked at four and a half stars.

One reviewer said the food at this pub is ‘excellent value for money’ while another said the prices are ‘very reasonable’.

Another review reads: “We decided to give breakfast a try at The Maltings because we could take our dog. To be fair and honest the breakfast was outstanding quality, hot and plentiful! I’m a bit of a full English snob, but our breakfast today exceeded expectations.”

 

Barley Mow

The Barley Mow is fifth highest rated in the cheap eats category.

It has more than 300 reviews and has a rating of four on Tripadvisor.

It is based in the heart of the town centre on Old Market Place and built in 1561.

A wide variety of food and drink ‘for great prices’ can be found at The Barley Mow.

“Great food at decent prices. Lovely, friendly and efficient staff. A lovely 16th century pub,” one review reads.

Another says: “We are not in Warrington very often, but this pub/restaurant is now our number one food place to eat in the area. Great food, service and atmosphere and not long to wait in between courses. Will be back every time.”
