Grotto Pizza, the popular Delaware-based pizza franchise, is opening its new location in Lancaster Tuesday afternoon.
While the official Grotto Pizza website still says its Lancaster’s location is “coming soon,” local media reports and Google indicate the new store, located in the Lancaster Shopping Center at 1525 Lititz Pike in Manheim Township, is scheduled to open for business at 4 p.m.
Grotto announced plans to open a store in Lancaster in December 2025.
The Lancaster location is the first Grotto Pizza restaurant in Pennsylvania, according to the company’s website.
Grotto has 15 locations in Delaware and two in Maryland, mainly in beach towns.
Founder Dominick Pulieri is a Wilkes-Barre native who learned to make pizza at his brother-in-law’s restaurant in Harveys Lake, according to Grotto’s website.
The first Grotto Pizza restaurant opened in Sussex County, Delaware, in 1960. It quickly expanded to a boardwalk spot in Rehoboth Beach, where it initially operated as a seasonal enterprise.
Grotto expanded to year-round operations in 1974, according to its website.
The chain is known for its signature sauce-on-top pies, and also serves salads, burgers, strombolis and more.
The Lancaster location is part of a shopping center that includes a Planet Fitness gym, a Pet Supplies Plus store and the R.B. Shap Shoe Store.
The new restaurant will feature a sports bar and offer dine-in and carryout service.
