Karna Sinchuri, Tara Sinchuriās nephew, says Tara Sinchuri was born in Bhutan and was forced out in 1992. The family were refugees in Nepal for 20 years before moving to different parts of the U.S.
Karna Sinchuri says his uncle recently lived in Kansas City, Kansas, and came to Cincinnati to serve the larger Nepali community in Ohio, registering Everest Jewels in 2023.
āHe moved here by himself first and opened the store,ā Karna Sinchuri said. āAround one year, he moved all his family ā wife and children, everybody ā here to Cincinnati.ā
Tara Sinchuri could be found showing off his new merchandise on Facebook, and celebrating good fortune. Karna Sinchuri says Tara Sinchuriās son was recently married, and the day he died, Tara Sinchuri was marking that same son’s birthday.
Tara Sinchuri’s death also coincides with Dashain, a major Nepali Hindu festival and traditional homecoming.
āWe always get a blessing from our elders; like uncles, our dad, our grandparents, our brothers, elder brothers,ā Karna Sinchuri said. āBut we plan to do that gathering in his house today, this morning.ā
Karna Sinchuri had come to Everest Jewels to collect inventory with other family members, and went inside for the first time since the robbery after completing his interview with Local 12.
āI don’t know whether I will be able to see all of the things or not,ā Karna Sinchuri said. āI’m trying to control myself to go and look inside.ā
āWe miss our uncle. We miss our uncle.ā
Fairfield Police has not identified Tara Sinchuri as the decedent, nor given any information about suspects.
