BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — One person died after a shooting at Graham’s Beach Grill near Cocoa Beach, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the person who was shot was transported from the scene and later pronounced dead. Another person was detained at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office said there is no threat to the public.

Business says shooting happened in parking lot

In a Facebook statement, Graham’s Beach Grill said the shooting happened outside in its parking lot, rather than inside the bar.

The business said the person who fired the gun and the victim knew each other and had a dispute at another bar in Merritt Island several days earlier.

According to the statement, the victim came to Graham’s, and the other person drove into the parking lot, where the two met. The business said the person who fired the gun remained until law enforcement arrived.

The Sheriff’s Office has not confirmed those details.

Graham’s also thanked people who had called and texted to check on its staff and family, saying they were safe.

Investigation continues

Investigators have not released the identity of the person who died or additional details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains ongoing and an update will be released when more information becomes available.
