Jack in the Box Coming to South Federal Blvd, Denver

A new Jack in the Box is on the way to Southwest Denver, with the fast-food chain listing a coming-soon restaurant at 2020 S. Federal Blvd. that’s expected to serve customers in the neighborhood with both indoor seating and a drive-thru lane. The company has not announced the location’s exact opening day or its regular operating hours, but it has already staked a claim to the Federal Boulevard address.

A December Target, But No Confirmed Date

Jack in the Box lists the South Federal Boulevard restaurant as a coming-soon location on its company website, according to locations.jackinthebox.com. A search-result snippet tied to that same listing points to a December 2026 opening, though that timing has not been confirmed elsewhere and the exact day remains unannounced, as first reported by WhatNow. The new spot is expected to serve the surrounding Southwest Denver community once it opens, joining a roster of existing Jack in the Box restaurants already scattered across the Denver metro area.

Jack in the Box offers an all-day menu that includes breakfast. Options include burgers, tacos, egg rolls and shakes, as well as combo meals pairing mains with sides and drinks.

Part of a Bigger Colorado Push

The Federal Boulevard project lands amid a broader franchise expansion the company is pursuing statewide. Jack in the Box’s franchising arm says it is awarding territory across five Colorado markets, including the entire Denver designated market area along with Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Loveland and Fort Collins, according to jackintheboxfranchising.com. The company frames its restaurants as built around drive-thru service, and it points to Colorado’s growth as part of the pitch: the U.S. Census Bureau estimated the state’s population at 6,012,561 residents as of July 1, 2025, the first time Colorado crossed six million, and travelers spent $28.5 billion in the state in 2024 while 95.4 million people visited.

Some Jack in the Box locations in the greater Colorado Springs area have closed, including restaurants in Colorado Springs and Fountain, while a Colorado Springs restaurant remains open, the station notes. The shuttered restaurants sat at 3654 Austin Bluffs Parkway, 3690 New Center Point and 6314 S. U.S. 85-87 in Fountain.

A Nationwide Restructuring Plan

Separately, Jack in the Box announced its “JACK on Track” strategy in April 2025, which included a block-closure program aimed at shutting down roughly 150 to 200 underperforming restaurants nationwide. The company said at the time it would close about 80 to 120 locations between then and the end of 2025, with the rest following later based on individual franchise agreement termination dates. Jack in the Box has roughly 2,128 restaurants spread across 24 states, Guam and Mexico.

Despite the Colorado Springs-area closures, Jack in the Box’s franchising materials say its restaurants remain open and serving guests elsewhere in the state, including in Colorado Springs and Pueblo. The company had 17 other locations spread throughout Colorado at the time it was noted by Naked Denver, which also reported on a separate proposed Jack in the Box at the corner of East Colfax Avenue and Williams Street, across from a Taco Bell, on a 15,625-square-foot site that once held a car wash demolished in 2015. That East Colfax plan was described as being in preliminary stages, with groundbreaking anticipated for 2024, though the dossier does not say whether that project ultimately opened or was shelved.

For now, the South Federal Boulevard project is the clearest sign of Jack in the Box’s continued interest in Southwest Denver, even as the chain navigates closures to the south and expansion ambitions across the rest of the state. Residents in the area will likely be watching for firmer word on a grand-opening date as December approaches.
