BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — Nearly two years after a mass shooting outside Hush Lounge in Birmingham’s Five Points South neighborhood left four people dead and 17 others injured, police have arrested another person in connection with the case.
The Birmingham Police Department announced Friday that 22-year-old Aaron Jones-Turpin has been charged with capital murder and 17 counts of first-degree assault in connection with the September 2024 shooting in the 2000 block of Magnolia Avenue South.
Police said Jones-Turpin was taken into custody Friday, Sept. 11, in the 100 block of Brown Street in Fyffe, Alabama.
Investigators said at least 100 shots were fired during the 2024 shooting.
The four people killed were identified as 21-year-old Anitra Holloman of Bessemer; 26-year-old Roderick Lynn Patterson Jr. of Birmingham; 27-year-old Tahj Booker of Birmingham; and 27-year-old Carlos McCain, also of Birmingham.
Jones-Turpin’s arrest is the latest development in an investigation that has continued since the shooting nearly two years ago.
Damien McDaniel, NyQuan Lollar and Crishawn McLemore-Bruce were previously charged in connection with the Five Points South shooting.
McDaniel, whom police have described as a “murder-for-hire” suspect, was also connected to 18 deaths as of May 2025.
Jones-Turpin is expected to be transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where police said he will be held without bond.
The charges against Jones-Turpin are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
