Hi All- I’m based in Chicago is fall weather is slowing coming our way. This is my first year planting peppers, I have some pretty good sized jalapeño and banana pepper plants growing. I’m hoping to get some more peppers out of them before the season is over. What temperature can the plants still survive in at night? We’re getting into the lower 50’s next week and wondering if I should bring them inside over night when it gets to those temperatures.

Looks like still summer to me. Pepper plants will survive down to freezing. They will only start struggling if exposed to extended periods below 40F.
You should be fine at those temps. I’m in Minneapolis, so I’m used to the early/freak cold temps. Watch for frost warnings. When you see those, that’s when you’ll need to take some protective measures (water the peppers with warm water before you go to bed, cover them with a sheet, sing them lullabies, etc).
I grow my peppers exclusively in grow bags. One of the several reasons I do is to be able to pull them into the garage when the temps drop overnight/for a day or two. Being able to do so can add 2 or 3 more weeks to the growing season.
Not in texas lol
Yeah. Right.
Where I am we just moved from Front Porch of Hell season to Second Summer.
You’re fine for a little bit longer but sometimes they take a while to ripen when it gets too cool.
