Darwin Jesus Trujillo-Santos, 28, was arrested for an incident on July 18. He is facing several misdemeanor charges related to domestic violence, assault, property damage, as well as a first degree felony charge of burglary.

According to the probable cause statement, Trujillo-Santos went to go pick up his child and hit his child’s mother in the face and caused damage to a vehicle on the property. The complainant is the child’s step-father.

According to the child’s mother, Trujillo-Santos was supposed to give her $200 upon picking up their child, but only gave her $120. She refused to let the child go with the father until she had the additional $80. This is when the situation escalated to violence. The co-parents do not have a custody agreement in place.

Trujillo-Santos later reported he gave the mother $170.

The mother and child went back into the property and closed the door to which Trujillo-Santos allegedly then started “kicking the door and kicked it open,” where he then entered and hit his child’s mother in the face.

Trujillo-Santos stated the child’s mother initiated the fight by kicking him to which he swung a fist at her but did not make contact.

Upon the commotion, the mother’s teenage son intervened causing a physical altercation that drew blood from the teenager. Her husband also intervened having reportedly been hit several times in the head by Trujillo-Santos.

The probable cause statement explains that Trujillo-Santos then, upon exiting with his child, grabbed a small tire iron and notably damaged the husbands car and then left the scene, child in tow.

Trujillo-Santos told police that the husband threatened to hurt him with a kitchen knife if he did not leave and that is why he grabbed the tire iron. He noted to police that “he would fight husband again.”

His initial appearance is scheduled for Oct. 19. He is currently out on bail of $5,000.
