At the peak of Campisi’s holiday surge, a fire broke out at 5405 W. Lovers Lane and devastated the restaurant, as well as a few other businesses in this strip mall.
Seven months later, it’s back.
Well, almost.
Recently on Facebook, Campisi’s announced that the former space would not be resurrected, and instead, it would reopen at 7709 Inwood Road, the former Perch Bistro & Bar space near Inwood and Lovers Lane. If everything goes to plan, they’re eyeing an early 2027 opening.

“It’s part of a bigger play too: a second, delivery-focused kitchen already opened this month at the old Saucy’s Thai & Pho spot on Royal Lane,” continues the announcement post, “with the strategy being smaller delivery zones from multiple kitchens across Dallas instead of leaning on third-party apps.”
At a time when Dallas restaurants are getting pelted with delivery app fees, this appears to be a smart move from Campisi’s.
Campisi’s has served its iconic pizzas in Dallas since 1946 and has eight restaurants around the metroplex, including the location that is about to reopen.
It’s known for small-batch recipes passed down through the family for generations, but what everyone remembers most is its original location on Mockingbird Lane, which still sports its “Egyptian Restaurant” sign out front and has a mafia-mystique vibe inside.
These days, diners will say it’s past its heyday, while others still crave the nostalgic flavors they grew up with, and to that, a line from David Campisi answers this controversy: “We’re an iconic brand, like it or don’t like it, that’s who we are. These expansions aren’t us trying to be anyone else. Who’s ready for round two?”
We don’t know who has beef with toasted ravioli and thin-crust pizza, but whether they like it or not, this Dallas institution is one of the oldest restaurants in Dallas and is here to stay.
