Peppers

Dart Maul x Gourmet Fatalii Jigsaw

First, this is an attractive looking pepper. Vibrant color, interesting pod shape, came from a Bonchi’d indoor plant growing in an Aerogarden Bounty with fruits already on it. Decided to move it outdoors and just leave the peppers to fully ripen.

Flavor is interesting – sweet, very bell pepper reminiscent (first bite) and the heat is way more delayed (first bite) than even a Reaper. This is truly a sleeper pepper because even after chewing pretty well there wasn’t a hint of what was coming. I tried some different portions for a second and third try (ate the entire half), and those are much hotter and much faster onset.

Heat is definitely superhot, and it’s really damned hot. First impression was a low end ghost pepper, but after consuming half the pepper, it’s way hotter than that. Not quite Reaper hot, but it’s up there playing with the big boys and the burn sticks for a minute. Considering I’m still feeling it after trying some Chocolate Reaper says a bit about this one.

Easiest plant so far to train for indoor growing. Held its shape nicely after a few snips here and there. Going to let it go wild outdoors, so I’m sure it’s going to look utterly different in a few weeks.

Overall, this is a good pepper! Really good, and the flavor would work with just about anything while bringing a big enough punch to liven up a dish or some salsa. I’m going to grow some more of these.
